Why is this test important?
The biological age profile estimates your biological age compared to your actual age. It provides a comprehensive overview of your health status by considering inflammation markers, metabolic values, organ functions, and blood composition.
A higher biological age than your chronological age can indicate accelerated aging and an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, or reduced regeneration. A lower biological age, on the other hand, shows that your body is aging more slowly and you are healthier in the long term.
Included Parameters
- Albumin (liver): Albumin is a central blood protein that allows conclusions about nutritional status and liver function. Low values can indicate chronic disease or malnutrition.
- Creatinine (kidney): Creatinine is produced during muscle metabolism and is excreted through the kidneys. Elevated values indicate impaired kidney function.
- Glucose (metabolism): Glucose is the body's most important energy source. An elevated blood sugar level often indicates insulin resistance or diabetes.
- C-reactive protein (inflammation): CRP is a sensitive marker for inflammatory processes in the body. Elevated values are associated with increased risk for cardiovascular disease.
- Lymphocyte percentage (immune system): Lymphocytes are specialized white blood cells that play a central role in immune defense. Deviations in proportion can indicate infections or disorders of immune function.
- Mean erythrocyte volume (MCV, immune system): The mean erythrocyte volume indicates the average size of red blood cells. Changes indicate deficiency states such as iron or vitamin deficiency, or disorders of blood formation.
- Red blood cell distribution width (RDW, immune system): RDW describes the size variability of red blood cells. Elevated values can occur with blood formation disorders or chronic diseases.
- Alkaline phosphatase (ALP, liver): ALP is an enzyme found in the liver, bones, and other tissues. Deviations from the normal range can indicate liver or bone disease.
- Total white blood cell count (immune system): The total leukocyte count shows how active the immune system is. Elevated values often indicate inflammation or infection, low values indicate weakened defense.
